Migraines have to be managed; if you have them, you know. It’s part behavior management, avoiding triggers as much as possible, and management of the migraine itself if you feel one coming on. Many of the products on this page you will find are for an emergent migraine rather than preventative measures. All of these products we have tested, some working better than others for our unique symptoms, but all have a following and a different approach to lessening symptoms and common triggers. This page will be expanded as other resources are found.

Cold & Compressive Therapy
TheraICEtm Cold Therapy Wrap
The TheraICETM Cold Therapy Wrap is one of my favorite migraine products. This mask/wrap is one size fits most, made from nylon, spandex, and gel. While there are other types of gel packs and masks out there, few have the seamless, gentle, compressive comfort that this mask provides. Additionally, this mask is unique in that it covers the eyes, allowing the wearer relief from their light sensitivity. Gentle compression through the temples, eyes, and the back of the skull eases tension as the cold gel stifles inflammation. The cold wrap seeks to constrict the enlarged arteries that are sometimes associated with migraines.
My wife has found the TheraICETM wrap to be exceptionally helpful during her migraines. It stays cold longer than any other cold pack that we have used and doesn’t have any hard parts to it, which adds to the comfort factor. It’s a hug for your head when you need it most!

Aculieftm Wearable Acupressure
The “Hegu Point” or LI4 is an acupuncture and acupressure point commonly used in Chinese medicine. The Aculieftm wearable acupressure clip works with LI4 in mind, applying gentle pressure to the point that lies at the base of the index finger and the thumb. It can be adjusted slightly to apply more or less pressure depending on need and comfort and also comes in a variety of sizes.
The pressure point this device stimulates has been used to treat a variety of issues, two of the primary ailments being headaches and pain. Aculieftm can be taken anywhere and applied when needed to get immediate relief or ward off an impending migraine at its first signs. Many find that it works well in conjunction with other medications or relaxation techniques, and others report it even works well on its own. ZŌK: Inner Ear Pressure Stimulation
ZŌK is really a simple product, comprised of a rubber bulb with an attached tube and earbud at the end. It functions by applying gentle pressure to the eardrum and inner ear in an effort to release pressure within the inner ear and stimulate the trigeminal nerve. The trigeminal nerve has been found to be closely involved with the pain associated with migraines, though it is not entirely understood what its involvement is. Studies have shown external nerve stimulation to be an effective treatment for some who suffer from migraines, but few are available outside of a formal, therapeutic environment. The reviews are somewhat split in regard to the efficacy of the product, but the goal and purpose are sound. If you are searching for an alternative to medication or something additional to complement it, it is worth testing.

Loaded with the same essential oils from peppermint, spearmint, and lavender with the addition of ginger and frankincense, this cream is sure to soothe your aching head and neck. The scent despite its ingredients is not overpowering. Rub it anywhere you are having pain or tension on your head and you will feel it melt away. It soaks into the skin to provide deep, lasting relief, all without carrying a greasy consistency.

Migravent® is a dietary supplement that offers a different blend of Riboflavin, minerals, and other compounds. This particular supplement contains an addition of Butterbur Extract, Coenzyme Q10, and Bioperine. Each has been found to be extremely effective at reducing the occurrence of migraines on their own and by their own mechanisms. This makes this supplement quite well-rounded and able to combat migraines through multiple means. Reviews state multiple instances of Neurologists recommending this product to their patients, with high rates of success. If you have tried other supplements, medications, or topical applications, this may be another option to explore.

What is recommended to relieve stress and tension is relaxation and taking steps to remove that tension. So, for those of us who are triggered by tension or have injuries that cause it, having a tool such as this pillow can be a saving grace. It’s really quite simple. It comes down to its shape. When you relax your neck across it, it elongates the cervical spine and induces a natural curvature. Simply letting your spine fall back into alignment for a few minutes each day can train your muscles to relax and hopefully any tension-induced migraines to disappear.
